LG Solar performance guide

LG Solar exited the panel business in 2022. Warranty claims for LG NeON panels are now handled through LG Electronics (not a dedicated solar division). The process is slower than before, but valid claims are still being honoured in most markets, particularly Australia and the US.

LG NeON panels were among the best-built in the residential market, with a 25-year performance warranty and real-world degradation rates of 0.3–0.4% per year. Many systems will comfortably outlast the warranty period and still produce 85%+ of original output at 25 years.

Not about the panels themselves — LG panels are solid. The main concern is warranty service. If panels develop a genuine fault, the claims process is slower and sometimes requires persistence or legal assistance in markets outside South Korea and Australia.

LG NeON 2 and NeON R panels were warranted to no more than 0.3% annual degradation — well below the industry standard of 0.5–0.8%. Real-world data from independent monitoring confirms these panels hold their output very well over time.

Not like-for-like. LG stopped manufacturing panels in 2022. If a panel needs physical replacement, you'll need a compatible alternative from another manufacturer. In some cases, your original installer may have sourced spare LG units before the shutdown.

LG panels work with any quality inverter — SolarEdge, Enphase, Fronius, SMA, or Sungrow. The panels produce standard DC electricity; inverter compatibility is about system voltage and current ratings, not brand. Your original installer's choice of inverter is typically the safest to stick with.
